What Is Planet Merge?

Planet Merge is a physics-based space puzzle game inspired by the popular Suika-style merging formula. You control Sputnik, a small celestial character whose ultimate goal is to grow into a magnificent sun.

The main problem is to combine smaller planets into bigger ones, working with gravitational forces and orbital movement. Instead of direct placement, you have to predict how the planets move and interact after each action. With planets getting bigger, the available space gets tighter, making thoughtful placement more important.

How to Play Planet Merge

The basic objective is simple: merge matching planets to create larger celestial bodies.

  • Check the level – Check the planets and where they are and what gravitational forces are around them.
  • Guide Sputnik – Move carefully through the free space.
  • Create collisions – Place smaller planets so they can merge.
  • Use gravity – Use the gravitational attraction to pull planets into useful positions.
  • Make larger planets – The more successful your combinations, the larger the planets you’ll create.
  • Plan - don't overfill key areas with badly placed planets.
  • Combine Planets: Keep combining until you reach the level objective.

The key is to think about what will happen after a merge, not just where the current planet is going.

Controls Guide

Controls can vary depending on the version or platform, but Planet Merge is designed around straightforward movement and positioning.

  • Mouse: Click or drag to interact with the game when supported.
  • Keyboard: Use the available movement keys to guide Sputnik.
  • Touchscreen: Tap, swipe, or drag when playing on a compatible mobile device.
  • Restart: Use the restart option when a planetary arrangement becomes difficult to recover.

For the best results, make controlled movements rather than rushing from one side of the play area to another.

Advanced Tips & Tricks

  • Think About Gravity: Gravity is more than an obstacle—it is one of your most useful tools. Before making a move, consider the direction in which nearby planets are likely to travel.
  • Avoid Random Merges: A quick merge may look beneficial, but it can leave a large planet in an awkward position. Try to create combinations that also improve the setup for your next move.
  • Protect Open Space: Crowding is one of the biggest dangers in merge games. Keep useful areas of the playing field open so that you have room to maneuver and create future combinations.
  • Anticipate Movement: Don't focus only on a planet's current position. Think about its trajectory and how gravitational forces could change that trajectory.
  • Look for Chain Reactions: A successful merge can reposition nearby objects and create another opportunity. Watch for situations where one combination can naturally lead into the next.
  • Be Patient: Planet Merge rewards planning more than speed. Take a moment to understand the current arrangement before committing to an important move.
